As a kid, sitting in my bedroom deep in the jungle of Papua New Guinea, I would write and record stories. My life was anything but ordinary, but I dreamed of an alternate existence and transported myself through my words. And when I wasn't writing, I was reading. I'd read anything I could get my hands on, which was a weird array of books that circulated among the missionaries in neighboring tribes. I fed myself on stories. I still do.
But it was my own writing that really opened up the world to me. I could create something completely new. My imagination had no end. It could go anywhere, and I could take other people with me. It was a mystical and magical power. Come along, I'd say. Let's go to the moon.
Throughout my career I have been able to use my words to take people places. Whether I was creating presentations for a National Sales Director, drafting correspondence for a CEO, or writing copy for real estate marketing, I used my words to influence, to persuade, to provoke action. The pinnacle of this was co-authoring a book designed to change the perspective of educators. Our goal was to shift their thinking about trauma and behavior. My goal was to help them see that taking care of themselves was integral to them taking care of others.
Words have meant life to me. And I've used them to give life to others. I envision a future where I'm taking more people with me to places they've never been.
I want to take you on a journey. Where do you want to go?
