I graduated from The College of William and Mary in 2001 with a BA in English.
I am a relationship builder. I forge long-term partnerships with colleagues and clients. Adaptability is integral to all of my work. As a self-starter, I can take an idea and make it bloom. I take both drive and self-care seriously. I have learned to find balance. My strong emotional intelligence enables me to understand people's needs so that I can support them before they even ask. Being a mother of teenagers, I have learned to juggle competing priorities with patience and cool. I am unflappable.
It is my honor to provide a comforting touch to patients nearing the end of life.
I partnered with Relate and Grow to help them build an online Wellness Corner to host health and wellness content for their employees and clients. Relate & Grow provides developmental intervention services, educational consultation, and professional development training that aids families and other caregivers of children with autism and other developmental delays. It's such a privilege to support the work they do.
As part of their ecosystem of education tools, Teaching Strategies built The Hub as a center for professional development and collaboration. As the host of their popular Wellness Center forum, I prompted conversations and inspired healthy living and balance through blog posts and live events. I created graphic posters with self-regulation techniques to use in the classroom and demonstrated them in videos posted to the site. I drafted copy for professional development and facilitate large-scale webinars.
Mid-pandemic and shortly after my brother died, Noni asked me to be part of their small team of brilliant women to build a suite of products designed to aid educators of children impacted by ACEs (adverse childhood events). As the wellness and self-care expert, I co-authored the book The Power of Relationships: A Practitioner’s Guide to Trauma-Sensitive Teaching, writing a chapter on the critical importance of self-care. I also created a deck of 75 self-regulation practices, wrote and edited copy for in-app prompts, composed professional development, and hosted large-scale webinars for educators and administrators. Working from my basement and backyard while in quarantine, I shot videos of self-care techniques for the app. It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Out of immense grief, I was able to create something so powerful.
As I neared forty, I wanted a change. Bodywork had helped me heal from both physical and emotional trauma, and I wanted to bring that healing to others. After graduating from massage school, I launched my own company, seeing clients out of my home studio. Wanting to grow my clientele and expand my reach, I also contracted with Ohana Wellness. This enabled me to keep a balance between being a mom and doing work I am passionate about. In addition to working as a practitioner, I also wrote copy for social media and blog posts.
After staying home for two years after the birth of my twins, I joined the team at a woman-owned home healthcare agency that was in the midst of a major overhaul. I spearheaded the implementation of a new records management system and built a CRM to host all in-service requirements for over 60 coordinators, nurses, nurse’s aides, and therapists. I built a website, writing compelling copy to increase awareness of the benefits of home health.
During a time when the real estate market had taken a nosedive, The Nielson Companies brought me on to help keep their company afloat. I created marketing materials and oversaw the processing of all contracts and client communications. I hosted open houses and coordinated calendars for all properties. Other agents saw what I was doing and contracted with me to help them as well.
Trent + Co brought me on to their team to help boost his team's visibility and increase sales. I created brochures, advertisements, and signs. I drafted website copy and created logos for developers. Acting as a stand-in for real estate agents, I hosted open houses and guided tours of properties. I was their go-to person to support all of their real estate needs.
Taking the skills I'd learned at Pfizer, I provided both personal and professional support to the CEO and President. In addition to managing calendars, planning travel, taking cars in for service, orchestrating meetings, and overseeing the daily functioning of the office, I also wrote compelling copy for communications and created presentations used in high-level meetings with clients.
Working for a National Sales Director was nothing if not inspiring. I learned to take his sales vision and turn that into powerful presentations and persuasive correspondence to senior leadership. I managed a million-dollar budget and was the deciding voice on our division's charitable giving. From onboarding area directors to planning and executing large-scale events, I wore many hats and helped our division grow.
